Possibilities of physiotherapy for professional flute players
ŠEVČÍKOVÁ, Kateřina
Music is an integral part of human life. Its therapeutic effects have been described, but it also affects professional musicians in terms of physiology. When playing a musical instrument, a player's body position is strongly influenced especially for musical instruments that require an asymmetrical posture. The flute belongs to this group of musical instruments. Playing this musical instrument may therefore involve certain health risks. The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to describe the movement stereotypes that may arise when playing the transverse flute, and then to propose compensatory exercises to mitigate the risks of musculoskeletal disorders in flutists. The theoretical part of the thesis includes a description of kinesiology concepts relevant to the subsequent practical part, such as movement stereotypes, deep stabilization system, posture and shoulder joint kinesiology. Furthermore, asymmetric loading and ergonomics of playing the flute are described. Health problems that can often occur in professional flute players are also discussed. The practical part describes qualitative research that was conducted with a group of flute players. A kinesiological examination was performed on the respondents. The lateral scapular slide test was used as an additional test to assess the relative position of the scapulae. The practical part also included the education of exercises from a pre-prepared exercise unit aimed at preventing the development of, as well as compensating for, movement stereotypes in flute players. From the results, we can say that the inclusion of compensatory exercises to the flute playing was beneficial for the respondents. The content of the paper could be used in clinical physiotherapy, and could also be useful for professional flutists themselves, or in the teaching of the flute in Primary Art Schools.
Compensatory exercises for cyclists of older school age
Bartizalová, Denisa ; Jandová, Soňa (advisor) ; Panská, Šárka (referee)
This work deals with compensatory exercises for cyclists of older school age, which were compiled into methodological material. To verify the functionality of this methodological material in practice, 12 cyclists of older school age were selected, for whom it was necessary to determine the condition of the movement system in advance using diagnostic tests according to Janda. The cyclists were divided into 2 groups of 6 - experimental group and control group, where the experimental group had the task of training according to the methodological material. The subsequent second testing served as an indicator of the difference in the movement system of cyclists after the use of methodological material of compensatory exercises. The theoretical part of the work is therefore focused mainly on the description of muscle groups involved in cycling and in connection with that description of the stereotypes of the movemnt system that affect cyclists and its diagnosis. The results of diagnostic tests of the experimental and control groups have shown that movement stereotypes are already evident in older school age cyclists. This was subsequently confirmed by a statistical analysis of effect size for both groups. The analysis after the second testing showed a very large effect size in the experimental group,...

The feelings from the neck area were evaluated by participants on the VAS before and after the lesson, simultaneously the photographs of upper body part were taken to record the posture. After the intervention participants were interviewed to obtain additional information considering...
Effects of PNF to change the motoric stereotype of the abduction in the shoulder joint
Koderová, Michaela ; Holubářová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Pánek, David (referee)
Title: Effects of PNF to change the motoric stereotype of the abduction in the shoulder joint Objectives: The aim of this thesis, which is conceived as a pilot experimental study is to verify the changes in the timing of selected muscles during stereotype abduction of the shoulder after performing repetitive cyclic motion by therapeutic method PNF if a specific number of repetitions of the movement is performed. Methods: This is a pilot experimental study, which was done on seven probands, 4 men and 3 women with an average age of 26.6 years. The surface EMG muscle activity was scanned on selected muscles during the motoric testing of stereotype of the abduction of the shoulder joint before and after the PNF techniques. The EMG signal was then analyzed and we evaluated the timing of muscles before and after the PNF techniques. The results were then compared in terms of both intra-individually and inter-individually comparison. Results: Results provided contradictory answers to the fundamental questions relating to changes in the timing of selected muscles after PNF techniques. In terms of the change in intra-individually timing after PNF hypothesis was proved. But from the perspective of inter-individually comparison the hypothesis was not proved. Keywords: PNF, surface electromyography, motion...

Creating and verifying the targeted compensation program based on the method FMS? (Functional Movement Systems) for clients of Local Gym in České Budějovice
POPELKOVÁ, Eliška
Functional movement screen (FMS) is a tool for rating of selective basic movement patterns and determines pontential risk of injury. The aim was to desing and verify corrective exercises based on the results of FMS for new clients of the Local Gym in České Budějovice. 17 participants attended the screen (12 women and 5 men) in age of 26 to 61 years. All of them underwent the FMS, evaluatuon was conducted according to standardized criteria of FMS. We subsequently designed the corrective excercises, and after three months we retested the clients who regulary exercise twice a week during the lessons in the Local Gym. After comparing the results of the entrance test and retest we can say the most of clients have improved.
Correction of movement stereotypes within the therapy of bronchial asthma
HEBÍK, Štěpán
The aim of this bachelors thesis is the description of existence, corrective measures and causal mechanisms standing behind pathological movement programs among asthmatics. Moreover, it focuses on finding incorrect movement programs with particular asthma bronchiale patients. Subsequently, the erroneous programs are altered through special therapy to moderate the impact and to minimize the complications connected with the disease. The paper is divided into several intertwined sections, including the comprehensive depiction of asthma bronchiale and its impact on the human movement apparatus. In the following sections, asthmatic movement programs are studied, while identifying the mechanisms of their creation and systematic remedy. The realization of the aforementioned aims begins in the theoretical part of this work by processing the expert information gathered from dedicated literature on the topic. Research was done with the help of qualitative methods drawn up from four specific case studies. Furthermore, special examination methods, spirometer measurement, and short ČIPA (disease control) questionnaires were used to collect even more relevant information. In the same time, subjective feelings of the patients were taken in regard in the 8 weeks in which they were subjected to the therapy at Poliklinika Jih Medipont s.r.o. The corrective measures of the programmes were chosen according to the needs of the individual patients. Each of them reacted differently to the methods and processes altering the movement programmes. The results have shown that correcting the movement programmes may result in improving asthma control and reducing the subjective manifestations of the disease, and, at the same time, increase the spirometric values concerning the obstruction of respiratory passages. This work can be used as a tool for future physiotherapy students, in practice by clinical workers, but it can also be purposeful as an educational material for asthma patients.
Clinic and physiotherapy at overloaden nuchal muscles
KOLIBÍKOVÁ, Eliška
Abstract My thesis is focused on physiotherapy of overstrained neck musculature. This issue is familiar to me also due to the fact that it relates to me personally from the health point of view. I have selected three patients with whom I worked for this research. I have been monitoring the first patient for three months, and two other patients for six visits. The cervical spine is the most mobile and most strained spinal part. The problem of overstrained neck musculature is often highly underestimated; there are rare prevention programs focused on cervical musculature available, and it is not known how to prevent it. The goal of my thesis is to approach and describe the issue of overstrained neck musculature, as well as to use these findings in real life. To discover some causes of these problems. The last goal is to measure, based on the examinations and follow-up therapy in randomly selected patients, the effect of overstrained neck musculature therapy, through the patient{\crq}s individual feedback and the objective evaluation of the physiotherapist{\crq}s examination. To achieve my goals, I have used a qualitative research approach. Patient cooperation played an important role in therapies {--} two of the patients have cooperated very well, our targets have been achieved together, but the third patient did not cooperate with home exercising, she made just therapeutic visits where only partial success has been achieved in treatment. She left the study in a stabilized condition, but it is disputable, how long she will stay pain-free. I used kinesiological analysis in examinations {--} at first the patient{\crq}s history was collected, and then the patient was visually examined {--} from the front, back and side; through palpitation {--} examination of active movements of the cervical spine in the sitting position and thereafter during passive movements. Examination of cervicothoracic transition and thoracic spine. The following techniques have been used: soft techniques, rib mobilisation by Mojžíšová, Čápová's exercises, post isometric relaxation of muscles and its modifications {--} anti-gravitation relaxation, facilitation {--} ball massages, manipulation + physical therapy. I have prepared both short- and long-term rehabilitation plans for all patients. Besides that, I mentioned examples of methods primarily focused on movement education and correct body posture. Results of my thesis can be used by both the unprofessional (as an information source) and professional public.
